Day Time Date in Seoul

Seoul is a huge city and thus, there are seemingly endless options for a fun date in Seoul. Let’s start off with my personal favorite daytime date options in Seoul.

Brunch it UP

An elaborate brunch is a great way to start a great date. One of my favorite places for a fancy brunch date is The Cornerstone at The Park Hyatt Seoul.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Cornerstone presents ‘Brunch at the Park’, a luxurious brunch in Seoul. The experience includes a variety of appetizers, a main dish, and incredible desserts. All of the dishes are authentic home-style Italian made with quality ingredients. The brunch also includes an unlimited buffet-style of appetizers and desserts, wine, and cocktails.

You can take a look at the whole menu here.

Make Your Own Perfume

Why not create your very own scent if you really want to impress your date? In this perfume class, you will be able to make a perfume that really represents your and your date’s personalities. The workshop has a selection of 150 different fragrance bases and 20 natural fragrances you can choose for creating your personal scent.

The perfume masters speak English and you will be able to take a 50 ml bottle of your unique perfume back home! Book a perfume-making class here.

Relax in Each Other’s Company at the Spa

There is a good selection of spas in Seoul but one of my favorites is the 1899 Korean Red Ginseng spa in Myeongdong. SPA 1899 was created by Korea Ginseng Corporation, the world’s leading expert in red ginseng since 1899.

The spa offers a variety of spa treatments involving products made of red ginseng. The treatments at Spa 1899 Donginbi are based on ancient Korean care methods using 6-year-old red ginseng. Check out Spa 1899 here.

Get A Personal Color Analysis

My husband and I went to get a personal color analysis for one of our wedding anniversaries and it turned out to be a hugely successful date! We chose Color Society’s Sohee Baek for a professional analysis of our own personal season and ideal colors.

During the session, Sohee will analyze your skin tone and conduct a couple of tests to find out your personal color. At the end of the session, you will know exactly which colors and makeup suit you best – and which you should completely avoid! Check out Color Society here.

Enjoy Quality Time at Lotte World

Lotte World is hugely popular for a fun date out among couples in Korea. It consists of the world’s largest indoor theme park, an outdoor amusement park called “Magic Island”, an artificial island inside a lake linked by a monorail, shopping malls, a luxury hotel, a Korean folk museum, sports facilities, and movie theaters. All of this is easily accessible by subway and buses in Seoul‘s southern district. Plan your visit to Lotte World here.

Rent a Hanbok

Spending some quality time together while strolling around the streets of Seoul wearing Korean traditional clothes is the epitome of K-drama romance, is it not? It’s incredibly affordable to rent a Korean hanbok dress for the day (or just a few hours). Most shops are around Gyeongbokgung Palace as the palace quarter is the most popular area to wear hanbok in Seoul – you even get free admission to the palaces when wearing one!

There are also different rental options available. This hanbok rental experience ranges from 2 hours to a full day and has hairstyling options, while this option also includes a fun couple photoshoot!

Have Afternoon Tea

Who doesn’t love afternoon tea? Luckily, the choices for afternoon tea in Seoul are plentiful. I have tried several afternoon teas in Seoul and always had a great time. If your date in Seoul is in the Gangnam area, try the Park Hyatt, which serves fantastic seasonal afternoon tea sets on the 24th floor with amazing views of Gangnam.

Another great afternoon tea option is at JW Marriott Dongdaemun in Seoul. They offer the Salon De Ddalki to their guests and anyone interested in experiencing this sweet event. The event is a collaboration with Barbie, making it even more appealing. Salon De Ddalki takes place in The Lounge on the hotel’s first floor.

If you’d rather experience a traditional teahouse with Korean tea options, check out these amazing teahouses in Seoul.

Have a Picnic in the Park

Parks along the Han River are very popular for a picnic. The most visited parks for picnics are Yeouido Hangang River Park and Mangwon Hangang Park near Hongdae. You can even rent picnic equipment to make your special date in Seoul. This picnic rental for Yeouido Hangang Park includes mats, blankets, tables, chairs, speakers, and even lights.

Soak Up Some Culture at a Museum

If you’re a culture or history buff and want to impress your date in Seoul, visit one of the many interesting museums in the city. The largest and most comprehensive is the National Museum of Korea, displaying more than 220,000 collections from ancient and medieval history to early modern history. Located right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace is the National Palace Museum of Korea, which has a very interesting permanent collection about all aspects of the Joseon lifestyle.

If you are looking for something more modern and contemporary, check out the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, which is the go-to location in Seoul for traditional and contemporary art by both national and international artists.

Take a Romantic Han River Cruise

The Han River dividing Seoul into a northern and a southern part is the perfect place for a romantic river cruise during a date in Seoul. There are different cruises available, for example, this 40-minute Han River cruise starting in Yeouido.

The great thing about this cruise is that it’s not too long (40 minutes) and you can choose between different time slots depending on what time of the day you want to take the cruise.

Go on a Day Trip Adventure

Do you want to skip town and go on a fun day trip from Seoul? Thanks to the express buses and KTX high-speed trains, it’s fairly easy to take a fun day trip outside of Seoul.

Here are a couple of my favorite destinations for a day trip from Seoul:

Evening Date in Seoul

Seoul has great nightlife – especially when you want to go out on a fun date! Whether you want to do something intimate and laid-back or you want to go all out, here are the best things to do for an evening date in Seoul.

Enjoy a Funny Evening at a Comedy Show

There are always new shows popping up in Seoul – and at the moment the Painters show is new and hot.  This is a non-verbal show involving incredible visual effects and live drawing. Musical lovers should check recent shows on the social media profiles of Korea’s two main musical companies: EMK and Music of the Night KR.

Get Tipsy Together at Bar CHAM

Drinking culture is huge in Korea, so there’s no surprise that plenty of bars and pubs are around. If you’re looking for something special for your date in Seoul, head to Bar CHAM. This bar was featured in Netflix’s Paik’s Spirits (episode 3). Combining modern cocktail concepts with traditional regional liquor from across Korea, this bar made it on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list. Cham means oak and is a reference to the décor of this intimate hanok venue.

Get Competitive at Zzang Games in Hongdae

This multi-floor arcade is the perfect place to let your inner child out! You and your date can compete (or work together) in various different games or get moving on a dancing pad. VR games are super popular right now, so why not save the world from a zombie apocalypse while on your date in Seoul?

Enjoy an Upscale Movie Experience

Going to the movies is a standard date option. If you really want to impress your date, take them to Megabox Boutique M, a luxury movie theater in Gangnam’s prominent COEX Mall. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a welcome package that includes Evian water, a blanket and indoor slippers to wear in the theater. You can then choose everything from premium beer to cocktails and desserts during the movie.

Try Your Way Through Korean Street Food

Why not take your date out to try some Korean street food? Gwangjang Market is a great destination to do so. It was the first permanent market in Korea dating back to the Joseon dynasty and continues to be a popular food hot spot.

Some of the best Korean street snacks to try here are:

  • Bindaetteok (Mung Bean Pancakes)
  • Boribap (Rice and Barley with Vegetables)
  • Eomukguk (Fish Cake Soup)
  • Kimbap (bite-size dried seaweed rolls)
  • Kalguksu (Korean knife-cut noodle soup)
  • Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes)

Play a Game of Indoor Archery

South Korea is a dominant force in the archery scene in international sports competitions. That’s why indoor archery cafes are a great way to practice your game. Take your date to play a game of indoor archery in Gangnam for a good time.

Explore the Streets at Night

Candlelight Dinner River Cruise

Could there be anything more romantic than a candlelight dinner river cruise in Seoul? I highly doubt it. The cruise leaves Yeouido at 7 PM and returns after a 2-hour dinner cruise extravaganza. You and your date can enjoy a luxurious 3-course meal and buffet while admiring the sunset over Seoul. Book your candlelight dinner river cruise in Seoul here.

Watch a Sports Game

If you’re a sports fan, why not go watch a game with your date in Seoul? Soccer fans should check out upcoming games at Seoul World Cup Stadium. Check their official website for the current schedule – there often are some big international games happening as well!

Baseball is pretty big in Korea and if you’re a fan, you should check out Jamsil Baseball Stadium. Most of the baseball games in Seoul happen right there.

Have Luxe Rooftop Drinks at Privilege Sky Bar

While there are many nice rooftop bars in Seoul, Privilege Bar at Mondrian Itaewon isn’t playing games. Sit inside and watch the professional bartenders work their magic in front of the tall liquor assortment or sit outside and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Seoul; all while sipping on the finest cocktails in town. This is one of the best places to end a nighttime date in Seoul!

Bonus: More Seoul Date Ideas

If these 20 ideas for a fun date in Seoul weren’t already enough, I’ve got a couple of bonus ideas for you 😉

Enjoy a drink at the highest spot in Seoul

Lotte World Tower’s 123F Lounge is the perfect place to take your date in Seoul! It’s the highest spot in the city with amazing views of all of Seoul. You need to buy admission tickets for Seoul Sky in order to get here but you can simply book tickets in advance here.

Go Paragliding

If all of these suggestions were a bit soft for you this far, I’ve got you covered. Take the subway to Yangpeyong, just one hour outside of Seoul and you’ll find one of the best places for paragliding in Korea. Here you have fantastic bird’s eye views where the North and South Han rivers meet. Since Yangpyeong is located at a high altitude, you can enjoy up to 3 times longer flight time than any other paragliding site in Korea. Check out the details here.

Go on a Seoul Ghost Walking Tour

Now that you’ve explored the bright side of Seoul, it’s time to dive into the dark side of Seoul. This ghost walking tour of Seoul takes you and your date to the spookiest parts of the city that have been part of urban legends for centuries. The tour introduces you to the most famous ghosts, massacres, and secrets to learn about the dark history of Seoul.

Stroll through Ikseondong

Ikseongdong is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Seoul today. The hanok cluster is located south of Bukchon Hanok Village and between Anguk Station and Jongno 3-ga Station. There are a lot of cute cafes and trendy restaurants for a daytime date and fun bars for a nighttime date in Seoul. Check out my full guide to Ikseongdong for the best places to check out.

Best Place to Stay in Seoul for Couples

There are a lot of hotel options and depending on what you want to do, you should choose the best hotel in a convenient location in the city. Personally, I love to stay at one of the many high-end hotels for a date in Seoul, but I have also listed a more affordable option.

Conrad Seoul

Conrad Seoul is a 5-star luxury hotel situated on Yeouido island. This hotel has some amazing rooms with incredible views of the Han River and Seoul skyline.

On top of that, there is a huge indoor pool and four dining and lounge venues.

Park Hyatt Seoul

The Park Hyatt is an incredible Hyatt property in Seoul‘s Gangnam District. What I love most about this hotel is the gorgeous indoor pool with panoramic views of the city and their luxurious bathrooms in the room. The dining options are also fabulous and they offer a fantastic afternoon tea set that changes seasonally.

Four Seasons Seoul

The Four Seasons is another 5-star luxury hotel situated in the center of Seoul close to Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung Palace.

This hotel boasts an urban Spa, a year-round pool, a Michelin-starred, Cantonese cuisine at Yu Yuan, and a bar where Seoul’s bourgeoning, the craft-cocktail scene is at its finest.

Best Mid-range Option:

Hotel Cappucino

Hotel Cappucino describes itself as the perfect home from home for international travelers and Seoulites seeking a new, yet friendly, fun, yet cause-driven hotel. The hotel puts great emphasis on attractive spaces filled with thoughtful detail – not to mention Hotel Cappucino is pet-friendly! The rooftop bar/restaurant is another eye-catching  benefit of this property.
