Christmas is a very special holiday – all around the world. Which Lights and Illuminations Not To Miss

From the Galleria Department Store to Seoul Plaza, Times Square and Lotte Department Store in Sogong-dong, there are so many beautiful places to go in order to see Christmas lights and trees in full glory.

Here are the most beautiful Christmas lights in Seoul you shouldn’t miss.

Shinsegae, Lotte Department Store & Co., Myeongdong

During Christmas time, the whole area of Myeongdong is coated in twinkling lights. The two main department stores, Shinsegae and Lotte, compete over who has the most extravagant Christmas set-up – and they love to outdo each other year after year.

This year, it’s hard to choose a winner as both have decorated their storefronts absolutely beautifully.

Which do you like more?

 COEX Starfield Library, Gangnam

Every year, Starfield Library located in the center of COEX Mall features beautiful holiday decorations. From a large Christmas tree made of 14,000 books to a tree with a polar bear family that looks like they are straight out of a fairy tale, the Starfield Library at COEX Mall celebrates every Christmas season with a variety of trees.

This year, the public library is decorated with an 11.6m-high ‘Snow Pavilion’, consisting of 900 individual snowflakes. Just like the snowflakes gathered together to create a huge tree, the people should come together to create the power to overcome this year’s hardships.

Lotte World Mall, Jamsil

Lotte World Mall in Jamsil is another great place to check out Christmas decorations. This year, they have truly outdone themselves by setting up four cozy Christmas cabins just outside the mall area. The cabins are sponsored by brands like Muji, H&M Home, and the car make Mini.

You can take the best Christmas in Seoul photos at the Muji and H&M Home cabins, which are decorated like cozy rooms. I recommend coming here in the late afternoon when the lights get turned on.

Times Square Seoul Shopping Mall

Just outside of Seoul‘s Time Square Shopping Mall are some beautiful holiday decorations that typically boast a festive Christmas tree. This year, the theme is Christmas glamping with various cozy seating areas around an impressive tree. Don’t forget to check out the inside of the tree, which features birch trees and mirror walls.

IFC Mall, Yeouido

One of my favorite malls in Seoul, directly connected to the 5-star luxury hotel Conrad Seoul, also has some beautiful holiday decorations that are worth a visit.

The entrance level has a beautiful ornament-shaped chair that is lit up, while the food court area of B1 feautres a Frozen-like ice gazebo for Instagrammable moments.

NC Outlet Shin Guro Branch

This rather inconspicuous shopping mall turned out to be one of my favorite locations for Christmas in Seoul this year. Whoever came up with the idea of installing floating Christmas trees inside this mall is a true genius.

While the main tree, several floors high, is already impressive, the dozen, seemingly floating, trees around the whole open mall area are what makes this one of the best Christmas decorations in Seoul – or dare I say the whole world – this season.
