Aman Beijing Summer Palace

Aman Summer Palace – Beijing, China

This unique property lies just a few steps from the East Gate of the vast Summer Palace grounds. There are a total of 51 royal rooms, including those once used by guests awaiting an audience with the Chinese Emperor and Empress. The Summer Palace was built in 1750 as a retreat for the Chinese court. It features palaces, pavilions and ornate bridges around the picturesque Kunming Lake. Additionally, it is considered one of the most important pieces of architecture, landscape, and design in Chinese history. A stay at Aman Summer Palace Beijing allows you to experience a piece of Chinese history and live like a king.

The afternoon tea set is served at the Reflection Pavilion, a beautiful space with an outdoor area leading into a garden with a small pond. Guests are offered a selection of mouth-watering homemade sweets, bite-sized breads and freshly baked cookies and pastries. To accompany the set, you can choose a between a variety of teas, coffees and signature drinks.

I chose Chinese Pu’er tea with my afternoon tea set and received refills whenever I had finished my tea. The temperature of the tea was perfect – not too hot but still warm enough to experience the tea’s unique aroma. The sweet and savory treats were all exquisite and the quality was very good for the price.

Here’s a list of what was included in my afternoon tea set:

  • Fruit Tart
  • Cheesecake with Green Apples
  • Lemon Pie
  • Scone with Cranberries
  • Chocolate Muffin
  • Hazelnut Puff
  • Chocolate Mousse
  • Canelé
  • Bagel with Smoked Salmon and Avocado Purée
  • Chicken, Cheese & Peppers in Spinach Roll
  • Tomato and Mozzarella Panini
  • Angus Beef Sandwich with Blue Cheese and Onion Compote
