About Golden Tulip Skybay Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung
One of the newest addition to The Golden Tulip hotels chain is the Skybay at Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung, South Korea. The hotel group started operating in the 1960s with the first Golden Tulip hotel opened in the Netherlands and has expanded across the globe since then.
The Golden Tulip Skybay is a 4-star luxury hotel located right at Gyeongpo Beach, a premier beach destination in South Korea. The hotel covers 20 storeys with 538 high-end rooms and suites. The highlight of the hotel is the spectacular infinity pool on the 20th floor with breathtaking views of the turquoise blue ocean.
Inside the deluxe room with sea view
The deluxe room with sea view is very spacious with 24 m². The room has a large balcony with views of the beautiful East Sea. The room also has a big flat-screen TV and a minibar with complimentary bottled water. The private bathroom includes a shower and toiletries. You also get a selection of tea and coffee you can make yourself with the water kettle.
Despite the location on the bustling Gyeongpo Beach, the room was very quiet and we didn’t hear any noises from other guests or the people outside.

The Pool Area
The crown jewel of the Skybay in Gangneung is its infinity pool on the 20th floor. It’s a lovely rooftop area with sun chairs and a pool bar with a selection of cocktails, beers and some food you can have right next to the pool. Besides the infinity pool, there’s also a jacuzzi and an indoor pool. On the same floor, there’s a state-of-the-art fitness center with views of the stunning beach as well.
Gyeongpo Beach
The hotel is located right across from beautiful Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung. The city in Gangwon-do Province received a lot of attention during the 2018 Winter Olympics as various games were held here. The beach still showcases a large display of the Olympic rings right at the beach.
Gyeongpo Beach is famous for its stunning sunrise and tranquil moonlight. There are other popular attractions nearby, including the pine forest and beautiful wild roses. You can even rent a boat and head out to go ocean fishing.
Dinner at Soirée grill & bar
There are two restaurants at the property: Soirée grill & bar and Restaurant ①ne. The former is open for lunch and dinner and offer a Korean-style buffet with a few Western foods, like spaghetti, available. They also have alcoholic drinks and snacks on the menu after 10 PM. Because of the hotel’s location next to the ocean, you will be able to try some of South Korea’s regional seafood dishes fresh from the water. This includes sashimi (raw fish) and a variety of shellfish.
The Breakfast Buffet
Breakfast is served on the lobby floor at Restaurant ①ne from 6 to 10. The buffet was very good and a lot of different foods were available. I especially liked the bread and pastries available as they really tasted like back home, rather than the usually too sweet breads you often get in South Korea. A chef prepares breakfast eggs in different varieties right in front of the guests.
