Seoul Blogger Brunch 2017 and The World Of K-Beauty
On a sunny Saturday afternoon in August, I was invited to the first-ever Seoul Blogger Brunch, hosted by my friend and blogger, Star from 87 Pages, and co-hosted by bloggers Mina and Dot. The event focused on bringing together the best Korea-based influencers and bloggers with the hottest brands on the K-beauty market, and this is what I learned!
The event took place at a cozy restaurant and bar named Hearth in Gangnam, Seoul. The large windows let through a lot of light, ideal for an event that focuses on skin care (light is key!). The owner at the Hearth is from Canada and offers delicious Western meals. We were greeted with delicious wine and were later served salads, pasta, and dessert. The food and the atmosphere were great and I’ll happily return for a meal with friends.
High-Quality Korean Skin Care Brands
The event was sponsored by various first-class Korean brands, including Troiareuke, Seoul Cosmetic Surgery, Banobagi Plastic Surgery, Grace Plastic Surgery, Be Mused Korea, Tiam, Eunogo, Cosrx, Hyggee, Wish Formula and Wishtrend.
I was very excited to hear about Troiareuke and their products. The brand does not only make high-quality skin care products but they also use their dermatology knowledge in their own spas for treatments specializing in holistic solutions to skin problems. Their products are so safe, that the presenter even drank one of their products in a small vial.
All bloggers were rewarded with a goodie bag of excellent products I have been so fond of using ever since the event. I’ve also been in touch with the Troiareuke team for advice and tips on how to use their products and they are extremely helpful. One of their consultants even took a video on how to use their ampoule product and sent it straight over to me.
Plastic Surgery – East Meets West
It wouldn’t be an event about K-beauty if there weren’t talks about plastic surgery. Mona Lisa Hanson of East Meets West presented with three representatives from Seoul Cosmetic Surgery, Banobagi Plastic Surgery, Grace Plastic Surgery and Wish Formula. Mona Lisa’s company focuses on bringing together customers from the West with surgeons and hospitals in South Korea.
The company organizes consultations and the entire trip to South Korea for the customer. The four partners held a giveaway competition and I even won something! I’m not sure yet what kind of treatment to choose but it sure will be very interesting!
One of my favorite presenters was beauty blogger Lisa who is launching her own K-beauty platform Bemused Korea. The site launched August 30th and we were given a sneak preview, as well as a lot of beauty hacks and a lovely goodie bag. You could tell that she puts her heart and soul into this new project and told us she hand picks all the items she sells.
I haven’t heard of this brand before so it was great to learn about something new. Turns out, the products gifted from Tiam are among my favorite from the entire event. The presenter Luna did a fantastic job explaining what each of their newest products does. I especially loved the Vitamin C Serum and the Bubble Pack, both great for acne-prone skin.
Eunogo is a medical concierge company, bringing together customer with hospitals and treatments. They are fluent in English and are able to translate during consultations. They also brought along some fun games and prizes and this time, fellow blogger and dear friend Gina Bear, won and can get pampered!
I’ve been a fan of Cosrx products for a little while now and was excited when they, too, were sponsoring the event. While there was no presentation from the brand, they generously gifted various products for us to try out and I have to say: I’m in love!
The gift box contained a lot of products for acne-prone skin, perfect for me. I can highly recommend the Oil-FREE Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion (with Birch Sap), as well as the Propolis Light Ampoule, giving you a magical glow when applied right before your foundation.
Another brand that was new to me was Hyggee. The company stands for All-In-One skin care, which I find especially great for traveling. I will be trying out their products over the next weeks, and report back how I like them.
I’ve purchased quite a few products through Wishtrend before and have always been very happy. Wishtrend is an online shop selling high-quality Korean skin care worldwide. The goodie bag included various products from Klaire’s (one of my favorites), as well as a hyaluronic acid toner from Isntree.
That was the Seoul Blogger Brunch 2017!
Even though I write mostly about travel and unique experiences, skin care is also a passion of mine. The Seoul Blogger Brunch was an incredibly fun event and I got to meet so many inspiring people. Now, I’m off to trying out all those fantastic products and report back!
