Cruising on a Segway Tour in Kuala Lumpur
I have to admit before I went on the segway tour in Kuala Lumpur, I always had mixed feelings about the two wheels from the future. Whenever I saw a segway tour pass by in
Here’s why you should try out a segway tour in Kuala Lumpur:
It was my first time visiting Kuala Lumpur when my blogger friend Soraya (HelloRaya) suggested I try out this segway tour. She had been on the tour herself and had a blast. I was rather skeptical. I had never been on a segway before. How do you steer? Would I be able to do it? Or just fall off? Another point I was concerned about was that I did not waste any time during my trip. Would a segway tour take too much time away from my own travel plans? But all of my worries were soon gone.
But all of my worries were soon gone.
Tour with Eco Ride Malaysia
“The key is trusting the machine,” said tour guide Nickki from Eco Ride Malaysia. He and two more guides followed our group of four tourists along through the beautiful Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur. The park is huge and houses a deer park, a Hibiscus garden, the famous Orchid Garden, Kuala Lumpur Bird Park and Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park. To our surprise, we were able to tick off most of these locations during our entire trip. My fears of missing out on important sites during the segway tour were luckily not justified. In fact, we were able to see so much more zooming away on the segway compared to exploring the park on foot.
As a passionate travel photographer, I loved the fact that we had plenty of photo opportunities during the tour. Besides our own photos, Nickki and his team took plenty of amazing shots of us cruising on the segway. These photos make for the perfect travel memory!
Easy-to-use Segways
Eco Ride Malaysia use comparably smaller and lighter segway models than what you’d typically see. The “InMotion” model is absolutely easy to use and ensures a safe experience. The fact that this segway model is emission-free adds to a conscious travel experience. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out how to steer and take control of the vehicle and then I had so much fun that I kept going faster and faster. For your own safety, a voice saying “Caution. Slow down.” is audible once you reach a certain speed. About 20 minutes into the tour, I found myself having to much fun that I kept doing turns and spins and reaching the speed limit. It was just so much fun!
Value for Money
After doing the segway tour in Kuala Lumpur it truly was one of the highlights of my trip. I had so much fun cruising around Lake Gardens and was able to see so many cool things. I highly recommend this tour to anyone in Kuala Lumpur, even if you’ve been 10 times already. The tour is also family-friendly allowing children 7 and over to participate.
The tour price is RM168 (US$38) per person for 2 hours of tour. The guides speak English, Chinese and Malay, of course, and offer a pick-up and drop-off service from and to your hotel in the city.
Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and put on some sunscreen before going on the tour! It would be best to bring a backpack or a crossbody bag along with some water.
Contact and Booking
You can book this incredible experience for only $35 USD through Tourplus. It is also possible to contact Nickki directly via WhatsApp (+6017-882-3847) to ask any questions or to make a booking.
Bonus: Kia Klemez Gifts & Souvenirs
When taking the segway tour, or on any regular visit to Lake Gardens, be sure to stop by this lovely souvenir shop and café. Kia Klemenz offers anything from beautiful homewares, batik paintings, clothing, souvenirs, gifts and more! Fully air-conditioned and featuring a beautiful terrace, it’s also a great place to grab a coffee or enjoy some delicious pastries. This lovely shop is owned by my blogger friend Soraya’s (HelloRaya) parents!
No compensation was received for this review, instead, the Guided Eco Ride in Lake Garden kindly offered this experience free of charge. All opinions are my own. I only recommend products & services that I personally love and use myself.
That’s good value for the tour to all those places. Your photos are beautiful. We’ve been to KL several times but not seen all the places on this tour.
This is a really cool way to explore. I would love to try the segway. That garden is so beautiful and the paths seem to be quiet friendly to navigate.
Never tried a Segway tour. But have always been fascinated by the contraptions. This one seems to be a great way to take in the natural beauty of Kuala Lumpur. Hope to get there some day and try this.
Nice post & photos. Thanks a lot for sharing. 🙂
I’ve always though segues were really entertaining to watch but to be on one would probably make my day. I like how the models are eco friendly and environmentally conscious. I wish I could go to Kia Klemenz and enjoy delicious pastries!
