Yim Huai Khwang Hostel – Best Budget Hostel Bangkok
Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Southeast Asia. Many travelers spend weeks backpacking different parts of the country and most of them usually start their journey in Bangkok. The Thai capital is a vibrant metropolis with countless golden temples, exciting night markets and exceptional restaurant options. Many make the mistake and stay at the infamous tourist hub of Khao San Road and I say: DON’T! What better way to explore a new culture than staying in a more traditional and local part of town? Yim Huai Khwang Hostel offers exactly that. Modern artsy design, welcoming staff and great value for money make this my “best budget hostel Bangkok”!

HERE’S WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE TO STAY AT YIM HUAI KHWANG IN BANGKOK:
VIBRANT MODERN DESIGN
Bangkok is known to be a colorful city and this hostel proves it to be right. Already when stepping into the welcoming lobby you will be surprised with a collection of colorful wall art inspired by travel destinations and fashion – not only from Thailand, but all around the world. The hostel lobby is also a hip local cafe where locals enjoy a cool beverage or even hold casual business meetings. The absolute eye-catcher in the lobby is the carefully created rainbow clock piece made up of countless tiny toys and everyday items.
COMFORTABLE ROOMS
I stayed in a double room with balcony but the hostel offers various room options. These include dorm rooms with 4 or 6 beds, twin rooms and double rooms with balcony or garden view. Each room also features a private bathroom – not a guarantee when traveling in Thailand. All rooms are equipped with hair dryers, shampoo and body wash, towels, air-conditioning and complimentary water, coffee and a water kettle. What I also enjoyed was the storage space where I could hang up my clothes or store my laptop. I was able to take a look at the other room options and was extremely surprised by the dorm rooms. I am quite reluctant to stay at dorm rooms in fear of small beds all cramped up together in a tiny room. However, Yim Huai Khwang offers a smart solution. The dorms feature large bed boxes that even include their own individual storage spaces. I haven’t seen dorm rooms that offer that much space for individuals before – totally loved that.

GREEN AND COMFORTABLE FACILITIES
I absolutely loved the warm and welcoming facilities of the hostel. Contrary to most hostels in Bangkok, Yim Huai Khwang offers a small garden with green bushes and palm trees. That’s the perfect place to escape from the hectic Bangkok streets. Not only does the lobby offer cozy seating options for a relaxed evening, but the second floor also features a large snacking and relaxing area with a balcony overlooking the green garden below. My tip is to get a iced Thai tea from the cafe in the lobby and chill on the balcony on the second floor for more privacy from the cafe guests and hostel guests checking in and out. Moreover, there are washing machines and dryers if you want to wash some clothes. That’s ideal when traveling in the humid weather in Bangkok.
