5 Reasons You Should Start Drinking Matcha

Have you ever had a “Matcha Latte”? They are super delicious green drinks but what exactly is “matcha”? The answer might astonish you! I’ve started drinking matcha on a daily basis and noticed some positive changes to my body. There are endless advantages of matcha over other beverages such as coffee or regular tea!

What is Matcha?

Generally speaking, Matcha Tea is the highest quality powdered green tea available. Why is that?
This type of the made from the nutrient-rich young leaves picked from the tips of shade-grown green tea plants. Then, it is steamed, stemmed, and de-vined before being stone-ground into very fine powder.

Matcha (抹茶) has its origins in Japan but is widely popular all over Asia and seems to be a trendy “Asian fusion” beverage in popular coffeehouses all over. It’s history goes far back to the Chinese In Tang Dynasty (618–907), where it was a popular custom to grind tea leaves into powder and press it into tea bricks for storage.

I have become a matcha lover! Even though it’s made of green tea, it’s flavor is quite distict and differs from regular green tea. I like the taste and especially how flexible the powder is! Due to its substance, you can easliy create lots of different dishes containing matcha: cake, ice cream, lattes, etc. etc. The possibilites are endless!

Matcha makes me feel good and I can drink lots of it and don’t have to worry about calories or sugar content. It’s also very easy to prepare and can be consumed during any season!

Matcha is incredible high in antioxidants which help us stay young and remove all the maladies from our body. Antioxidants are usually found in raw fruits and green veggies but also in matcha! Yay! This means, matcha even helps to detox your body and eventually lose weight! It helps to get rid of toxins, heavy metals, poisons, dioxins and hormone disruptors in your body.

  • Boosts Your Energy

Forget coffee, choose matcha! Unique amino acids found in matcha tea give you an energy boost without any side effects! Most people experiencing a boost for at least 2 hours. Even the old Asian buddhists from China and Japan used matcha as a means to relax and meditate. This state of consciousness is due to the amino acid L-Theanine contained in the matcha leaves. It stimulates the production of waves in the brain which results in relaxation without drowsiness.

All this sounds pretty great, doesn’t it? I have really come to love Matcha and what it does to my body. It keeps me energized and I feel positive which helps me work and study better.

    I still haven’t tried it at all this far though I saw it few times advertised in coffee shops…the very same coffee shops which did NOT have any coffee!!! Probably that is also the reason why I did not try it as I was just too disappointed and left the coffee shop with a broken heart to get my daily fix at KFC…

    I started to really like Matcha when I was living in Taipei. I also had Matcha cake which was pretty tasty. 🙂
