Chinese Male Models: “China’s Most Striking Men”

China’s economy has been booming for decades and not only industries like energy, automobile and steel/coal are keeping the economy up. There is one other industry that has been emerging over the past years: the Chinese fashion industry!

The China Fashion Week in Beijing as well as special Fashion Weeks in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Tianjin are held yearly attracting Western visitors. The next China Fashion Week will be held form October 25 to November 1st presenting the 2014 Spring/Summer collections of various designers, such as Zeng Fengfei, SimonGao, Jefen Xie Feng and many many more.

Presenting Chinese haute couture is definitely determined by more Chinese models than actual Western models. Especially, Chinese male models have gained international interest in the last few years. The most striking ones are Rui Wang, Liu Chang, Hao Yun Xiang and Zhao Lei.

So let’s take a look at those four gentlement in a nutshell:

#4 Rui Wang

He is one of the newest members of “China’s most striking men”. He is a rising star with his mother agency Cal-Carriers Models in

Singapore, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. Orinigally, Rui Wang is from Chengdu in Sichuan province. He mostly did work for GQ China, Kenzo Men and various Alibellus shows.

He has been signed with his mother agency Longteng (in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou) as well as another agency based outside of China: Francina Models in Barcelona, Spain. In 2011, he made his debut on international runways, displaying fashion at the Barcelona Fashion Week.

Hao Yun Xiang is one of the biggest names in the Chinese fashion industry. Besides China, he has also been signed at agencies in New York, Paris, London and Barcelona. He is a populat face at international fashion shows and presents haute couture for Givenchy, Burberry Prorsum, Bottega Veneta, Just Cavalli and H&M to name a few.

#1 Zhao Lei

Zhao Lei is the most popular and successful Chinese male model in today’s fashion world. He is constantly being booked for fashion shows and shoots all over the world. He is currently ranked # 16 of the top 50 male models worldwide. There is probably no fashion brand he hasn’t worn and no fashion show he has not presented haute couture for.

Of course, those four gentlemen are not the only male models in China and by far not the only very attractive individuals the country has to offer. A lot of people keep asking me what I like about Asian guys and the prejudice of Asians being too short and not that handsome keep existing – wrongfully so.
