Exploring my own country is always fun because there is so much to do here in Germany! I recently had the opportunity to stay overnight in Munich in one of its hippest and most central locations: the Derag Livinghotel am Viktualienmarkt. If you are looking for a comfortable, unique and central place to stay while in Munich, this hotel will surely make your dreams come true.
Here’s why you should choose to stay at Derag Livinghotel in Munich:
During my stay at Derag Livinghotel, I was happy to learn that the hotel is managed to be environmentally friendly. The furniture, bedding, toiletries, the food and almost everything in the hotel are from local producers in Germany. On top of that, the hotel uses green energy from the solar panels on the roof.
Universal Design with Local Charm
The concept of the hotel is simply: no matter where you are from, when entering the hotel room, you should feel at home. To achieve this, the hotel’s interior design is classic, simple with modern flair. Due to its location at the Viktualienmarkt, a traditional center of Munich, each room features one wall with wallpaper showcasing the market area in the old days. The aim is to connect the visitor to the location while offering all the comfort of their own home.
Modern Comfort At Its Best
I was pleasantly surprised about the perfect amount of technology used in the room. You can regulate the lighting via a touch panel at the door or next to the bed. The bed itself is a special oil bed which is adjustable according to your preference. Each room is equipped with a Microsoft tablet containing information on the hotel, breakfast hours, transportation and more. You can also easily go online with the tablet using the complimentary Internet. The tablet was especially useful to research local attractions as I did not bring my laptop with me.
Superb Location in the Heart of Munich
I especially loved the central location of Derag Livinghotel am Viktualienmarkt. Located right on the famous Munich market, visitors have easy access to public transportation with the subway station “Marienplatz” only a few minutes away. The Viktualienmarkt is a daily food market and a square in the center of the city dating back to 1807. Still today, it’s a major hub for food lovers and locals to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables. Many of the rooms of Derag Livinghotel offer perfect views of the entire market. How stunning is this?
Excellent Hotel Facilities
Derag Livinghotel am Viktualienmarkt features a gym, 24-hour reception and free Wi-Fi throughout the entire hotel. A buffet breakfast is served daily from 6:30 to 11:00 during the week and on weekends from 6:30 until 11:30. Most of the foods offered for breakfast are bought every morning directly from vendors from the Viktualienmarkt across the street. Should you travel with a pet, don’t worry! Your furry friend is welcome at Derag Livinghotel.
Some of the other comfortable services at the hotel include:
- Suit Press
- Shuttle Service (surcharge)
- Concierge Service
- Baggage Storage
- Dry Cleaning
- 24-Hour Front Desk
